Overcoming
“Nights pass; confused
Wondering what to do
Needles, shots, lights flash
Just when they told me the news.
Christmas Day
All I wanted to do was play.
Blood pressure dropping
I heard the doctors talking
Just when it all turned black
I just wanted to go back
To my cozy bed
And just rest my head.
New Year goes by
Every firework flies
When suddenly they stop the IV
I blink my eyes then see
I’m back at home fast asleep.”
