Lynn takes on the UK Ironman Triathlon!!!
IMAGINE SWIMMING FOR 2.4 MILES
THEN CYCLING FOR 112 MILES
THEN RUNNING FOR 26.2 MILES
ONE AFTER THE OTHER
ALL IN ONE DAY!!
Lynn Plumbley (50) trained intensively for nine months in order to compete in The Ultra Distance Triathlon Ironman which took place on 21st August 2005 in Dorset. This was the first time this prestigious event has ever taken place in the UK.
Lynn is a veteran of triathlon competitions but with a full time job at Oxford Gardens Primary School, North Kensington, she was thrilled to be selected as a member of the TRI UK Gatorade team in 2005. This is one of the most successful triathlon teams in Europe and is sponsored by TRI UK, Gatorade, FOOR, Adidas eyewear, Saucony, Zoggs, Carnac, Fizik and Cannondale.
NOW IMAGINE THAT THE EVENT DOESN'T CHALLENGE YOU ENOUGH AND THAT YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING EXTRA.
Lynn met Charlotte and her family four years ago and learnt that Charlotte was suffering from Lupus. Inspired by Charlotte's courage and the fact that there is no known cure, Lynn thought it only fitting to choose St Thomas Lupus Trust as her charity. To see Charlottes full story story click here.
Charlotte is 19 and in her first year studying history at Lancaster University. She is currently awaiting a kidney transplant.
Lynn completed the triathlon in a great time of 15:05:19 finishing second in her category. Well Done Lynn!!!
