Ladies that dine (and golf!)
Kirby Muxloe Golf Club, in beautiful Leicestershire countryside, was home to the Ladies Annual Dinner on 24th January 2008.
It was organised by the Ladies President, Doreen O'Brien, with the help and enthusiasm of the Ladies Committee. 73 ladies attended and purchased raffle tickets as they arrived, with all the proceeds
going to the Presidents charity - the St. Thomas' Lupus Trust.
Doreen is keen to help the trust as one of her granddaughters has had lupus for 12 years, since she was 15. She feels a great sadness that young people, or indeed people of any age, have to live with this debilitating illness.
The evening proceeded with dinner followed by entertainment and the raffle. There was a 'secret speaker', Chris Massie, who was past President and is renowned as a humorous raconteur of the lives of family & friends. She even finished by playing guitar and singing amusing songs!!
The raffle made £139, the coffers were then boosted further by Chris Massie kindly donating her fee for the evening and Jean Adderley (a friend of Doreen's) making a generous personal donation of £200!
A big thank you to Doreen, Chris & all the people that contributed towards a great evening.
