The Worshipful Company of Butchers Masters Dinner
Mr Bill Parker, Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, very kindly nominated the St. Thomas' Lupus Trust as his charity for the year. On 20th May he hosted the Masters Dinner. The event was a wonderful glittering occasion in the magnificent, historical Hall. Guests were served an amazing 7 courses (most of the Lupus Unit gave up way before course 7!!), even the chocolates were themed as little pigs & bulls heads!!
Dr Hughes was the speaker for the evening raising several chuckles talking about a subject known to both rheumatologists and butchers - joints!!
The evening included a raffle and an auction with prizes such as a case of pink champagne, debenture tickets for Wimbledon and a 'Name your own star' certificate (bought for £1,000 by a very generous Past Master Michael Katz who will name it 'Peace'). The top auction item was a holiday for 2 in Antigua.
The guests showed extreme kindness and support for the charity with very high auction bids, raising over £23,370 on one night alone!!
Our thanks to the Master, Bill Parker, the staff and all the members of the Worshipful Company of Butchers.
