Meet a Fellow

Dr Christos Lampropoulos

I came a few months ago from Athens, Greece where I am in my fourth year of training in Internal Medicine. It was a great opportunity to gain experience and knowledge from real teachers such as Dr. Hughes and other consultants of your famous unit.

In my country there are doctors, like Professor Moutsopoulos, who are trying to organize specialised centres and laboratories. Definitely there are no foundations or support groups such as yours with magazines, websites etc to inform people about the disease. Broadly speaking, doctors, independently whether they are rheumatologists or not, are well informed about lupus and suspect it early in patients with similar manifestations. Probably it does not happen the same with Antiphospholipid (Hughes) Syndrome, which is a relatively newly discovered disease and the literature remains limited. With the assistance of the internet and the information available, doctors are getting more in touch with this important and curable disease.

I wish you to continue offering your support to Lupus patients and to find more supporters all over the world.
