Angie Davidson interviews Patron, Nitin Ganatra
How long have you been acting professionally?
I have been performing since I was 16, but professionally I have been acting for the last 11 years.
When did you decide you wanted to become an actor?
Not sure...always wanted to be a fine artist...and then I decided it was too unhealthy. I spent too much time on my own drinking black coffee and splattering paint.
If you weren't an actor what profession would you follow?
Maybe now that I have lived a bit, I would love to go back to painting. Or if not, I probably would have been a theologian or monk.
How are you enjoying being in Eastenders?
I'm thoroughly enjoying Eastenders. People have been so welcoming. It was a great start for me.
What has been you favourite part in film or television?
I have enjoyed most of the characters I've played and each one of those has its own set of challenges. But some projects like 'Being April' and 'Canterbury Tales' really have some nostalgic moments for me. I've also done some movies that I'm proud of. I worked opposite Donald Sutherland, Johnny Depp and Richard Gere.
What part would you love to play or which programme would you like to appear in?
Who knows? I am lucky to play both in drama and in comedy so my glass is always half full.
What do you like to do when you get a few minutes to relax?
I do yoga and tai chi..but it ain't relaxing. TV is the only thing that helps me unwind, I only get to watch about 30 minutes a day at the moment.
Do you have any hobbies?
Too many. Several martial arts, yoga, tai chi, painting, making home movies. There just ain't enough time for me to do what I want to do!
Tell us a secret about yourself that not many people know.
No!.........Well, ok....No! (Hmmmmm nothing for me to sell to the Sun newspaper there then!! - Angie)
Why did you become a Patron of the St. Thomas Lupus Trust?
Angie!!!!! The woman wouldn't leave me alone, she sat me down and made me listen. Then I just wanted to get involved in some way.
Thanks to Nitin for taking time out of his hectic schedule to answer some questions. I'll get back to the 'secret' question another time and report back to you all!!!
